Circles and Soup

Three rings — we control, we influence, the soup we swim in. Sorts frustrations by agency and turns each ring into a different kind of response. Antidote to helplessness.

Steps

  1. 5 min
    Draw the circles

Three concentric rings: control, influence, soup. Explain each.

  2. 15 min
    Write concerns

Everyone writes frustrations and blockers from the sprint, silently.

  3. 10 min
    Place in circles

Sort each note into control, influence, or soup — debate placement.

  4. 20 min
    Respond per ring

Control: act. Influence: persuade whom? Soup: change our stance.

  5. 10 min
    Decide actions

1–3 owned actions, at least one from the control ring.
